Objective: Learn to solve optimization problems using operations research theory.
Methods:
Transportation models
Network models: shortest path problem, maximum flow problem, least cost flow problem
Deterministic dynamic programming models: load problem, labor scheduling problem, equipment replacement problem, investment problem, inventory control models
Deterministic inventory control models: static inventory control models, dynamic economic order quantity problems
Game and decision theory: decision making under certainty, decision making under risk, decision making under uncertainty
Upon completion of the module, the participant will be able to:
Formulate an optimization problem
Determine the data required to solve the problem Optimization
Build optimization models
